Fall of the Pop King...

so i was actually looking fwd to his concert in London (not that I can make it there, but was hoping he would do a world tour after London!) yet it's just totally shocking to learn from the news this morning that he has past away!

I didn't grown up with the Jackson's 5 (COME ON I'm not THAT OLD! !! HAHAHA yet, enough "re-run" on MTV during my high school time! not to mention their song "ABC") I remember my first LD at home (i.e. before i went to Boise!!) was MJ's Moonwalker!!! that's like so precious as it's the FIRST ever LD at home!! (and you can imagine it just show again and again!!) LOL

I don't know what'd happened to the LD (i guess it's "gone" once the LD player was replaced by DVD player?

It's a lost to the world's pop music - he's not only an American Idol, he's truly a world class. I'm sure no one will deny it. Although I don't agree w/ his personal life (quite a mess!) yet I really love his voice (his slow song is very good!!! You are not alone is one of the best!). It's just so unique and so comfortable to listen to. Of all of his outstanding music videos, I love the Thriller the most (esp. when they show it during Halloween! EVERY YEAR! ) LOL.... for those who's too young to know about what i'm talking about, chk out the below (hope they won't remove it soon)...

RIP MJ...

20 yrs... the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre

I remember I was in P.6, I don't think I know much about the Red China back then, I was too young.

I do remember photos w/ tanks running over students, every day shocking photos on newspapers' cover page...

I bought a photo magazine issued back then - buying those magazine w/ my very limited pocket money is consider as a "luxury".

Yet, as many other HKese back then, I have no confident w/ the Chinese Gov't, not sure what could happen after the 97 turn over! I wanted to make sure my family and I would not get in any type of trouble if one day the Chinese military (解放軍) search my house and found that book!!

So I put the precious magazine in my High school time capsule - just make sure I won't get in trouble w/ the Red Chinese...

It has been more than a decade since HK returned to the "Red Chinese". With the very limited exposure w/ China in the last few yrs I had a mixed feelings w/ our motherland: I wouldn't say I know China a lot (still have a natural "repelling" feeling of the Chinese gov't), yet, I think the "hate" part has dilute a bit.

I do think the Chinese Gov't has tried and improved (to become more open) when compare w/ where she was 20 yrs ago, yet, w/ a western educated background, for sure I think there're still lots of rooms for her to "improve"...

I didn't go to Victoria Park tonight, yet, I didn't forget what'd happened 20 yrs ago.

Movie Review - Angels & Demons

It was more than 5 yrs ago when I first read the book - that was the time when Da Vinci code was a big hit and instead of read Da Vinci Code I chose to read the "pre" book of Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown - Angels and Demons

Previous Da Vinci Code movie was disappointing... and hoping better presentation from Angels and Demons (personally I like Angels and Demons the novel rather than Da Vinci Code. The movie had been on theater for more than a wk, just waiting for vince to join and watch together w/ low dai and yekini. I tried to read the book beforehand but only made it 25% done before the movie yesterday. LOL

From a movie pt of view I think it's a okay movie, full of actions and the visual effect are very good (learn it later that most of the indoor sets are temp. setting and not the real buildings in Vatican City).

However due to the "2.5hr" time constraint there are tons of details missed out from the novel. For those who hasn't read the book probably it would seems "too easy" for Prof. Langdon to solve the murders, but should be "entertaining" enough.

For those who read the books I guess it's not as exciting as reading the book itself. I guess afterall the novel itself has too many details to cover so I guess the director has tried his best to balance between all the details mentioned in the novel and decide what to include in the movie.

Out of a 10 I think I'll give a 7.5 - 8 for this movie la :D later this afternoon will watch Night at the Museum 2. Looking fwd to :D

Eason old song - 明年今日

like this old song quite a bit~~

A note from Osaka...

Tmr will be the last day of this 5days 4 nites Osaka trip... the only comments i've are:
  1. i am tooooo used to travel all by myself for so long and it's difficult to travel w/ someone else
  2. it's very difficult to find a good travel buddy, even though we're very close when we are in HK...
  3. it's very diffifcult to find a eating buddy - u know la, eating is the most important part of ALL my trips ga ma....
anyway, i guess by being selfish i achieved what i planned for this trip:
  • Universal Studios Japan - total disappointment as ALL THE GAMES are in japanese WITHOUT ENGLISH CAPTION!!! i think they should at least put english subtitle!!!! LOVE spiderman ride! awesome!
  • Museum of Tezuka Osamu 手塚治虫記念館 - it was awesome and i'm so glad i made it (in big risk of losing a friend!!!) it's not convenient in terms of traveling (in the middle of nowhere! ) and one "bad" thing is that NOT ENOUGH sourvinor!!!!
  • Kobe BEEF!! although only "street snack" the texture is sooooooo good!! and i'm so sure it would be a lot better if it's from a "proper" restaurant - since it's Sunday today when i visited Kobe, most (at least the 2 out of 3 jap restaurants i passed by) are "full house"!! @_@
  • oh yeh, not to mention i'm able to buy a box of mask, which is currently all sold out in HK!!
Things haven't achieve yet:
  • Temples in Kyoto
  • Sushi
  • sushi and sashimi and sushi and sashimi.....
Well, tentative schedule for tmr is kyoto but who knows, depends on what time we're ready to go! *LOL* yet it's okay, I guess I will just take it easy (as i really don't wanna fight my friend - and i've to go back to work the very next day!!) V_V''

It's just difficult to "live" w/ another person, even though just a few short days. i heard it's difficult but i hope i didn't risk the friendship this time.

i guess it works the same between bf / gf relationship?!

Picts to follow...

Movie Review - Knowing

I've been a Nicholas Cage's fans for a long time (except those army/hero movie(s) he did a long time back) *LOL* so last night after taking Elvin for his annual body check my friend and i went to watch his latest movie - Knowing

It's a sci-fri movie about a "gifted kid" wrote a series of code predicting major disasters in the next 50 yrs (since 1959) and put it in her school's time capsule. So Nicholas Cage being a father of the current day's schoolkid get this "code letter", and found the "decoding" by accident...

Full of actions, and REALLY CREEPY when the "ghost" comes out *LOL* A movie HAS TO BE WATCHED in theatre b/c of the awesome sound effect. Enjoy the movie quite a lot, although i don't like it end the movie w/ "Aliens".... i always think lazy writers use aliens ending (like the new indiana jones) - just "blame" everything on the aliens lor :PPPPP

and, if there's really a "End of the World" day... whom I could be w/??

later this afternoon - Monsters vs. Aliens - @ IMAX!!! :D

古巨基 Eye Fever 演唱會2009

it has been a busy week - well, work as stressful as usual, but apart from work this wk's "after work's slots" are also fully booked! (LOL)

So Friday went to Leo's concert - just like its name "eye fever", its visual effect is VERY GOOD, the stage design, lasers / light, concert "composition" are all very creative and one can feel the "heart" of the production crews. (however the 3D is a bit disappointing la! not sure if it's b/c i sat allllllllll the way up on the LAST row?)

Anyway, in general it's an entertaining concert. Leo's live quality is great, the only thing is that if he can sing MORE of HIS OWN songs, and less "爛"gag it'll be more "music" lor :P

oh, a little accident during our concert night:
