Turkey Trip, & TV Program - Little eyes see the world

Just returned from Turkey trip (biz, of course!)... hmm.. it's really different - 1st time i'm in a Muslim country.... English doesn't take you too far, and can't deny customs are really different - food isn't the best (as I don't really like lamb - and no chicken on the menu due to avian lu)... so all I had is really beef.. =6 but for sure it's a pretty city (well, if it's not that cold it'll be better)...

Anyway, I think I'll save my reports tmr :P

A bit jet lag, so still watching TV - came across a program called 小眼睛看世界 made by Japanese TV crew - a documentary about a village girl in China struggling to get her secondary education.

Probably not the best "program" to watch - as at the very end there's no "good ending" - because her fmaily can't finance RMB 300 registration fee (~US40) and so she has no other choice but to stay home - although her open exam's result qualify her for the best secondary school in her region.

RMB300 - not too much to many of us - but to her family it's already 60% of the WHOLE YEAR's income. I mean if i were one of the crews i'll probably just fund that RMB 1000 for her whole yr's expense (since the secondary school is very far away she has to live on campus and all the misc. ~ 700) - not that I've a lot of $, but that I just think spending this RMB 1k worths a lot more than other spending that I've spent on other things...

I don't know what'd happened to this girl... and i know in reality thousands and thousands of similar cases happened on a daily bases - not only in China, but around the world... The documentary states that at least 10% of children in China are facing this problem and the Chinese Gov't are starting to fund by scholarship and stuffs...

i really hope that this girl can't reach her dreams one day - to be the teacher in her own village to teach the younger generations...

FW: Cathy:

再細碎的小事我也要跟你報告;

Cathy, always my favorite~ just remind me one of my old friends...

We haven't talk to each other for a very long time - well, since like last summer? Actually we haven't see each other for a very long time. Whenever we meet in HK I kept saying I'll visit him whenever he's - from England, to Japan to Indonesia now... i just never make it there to visit him...

Sometimes I wonder the inner me keep myself away to visit him is that i'm afraid... once we met it just won't be like the old days anymore... afterall both of us has grown up... after all these yrs...

As a matter of fact it just happened that I called him right after i stepped off the flight today - ha, every time i'm in the airport i just like to give him a call - unfortunately only got to his voice mail - hmmm... i'm not the type that leave messages... afterall it's nothing "special", just wonder how he's doing.

Maybe I should really plan for my next vaction in Indonesia...

Misc & Family Reunion (Part1)~~

Skipped work today - well, have headache (well, nothing new), but since i've exam tonite so i just skipped work and just 'studied" (i did really study ga!)

Grateful it's open book, o/w i won't get 10 pts! (even open books it's tough... it's a LONG exam - like starting from 19:45 to 21:30!!!!) ANYWAY, after exam I just rush to dinner - family reunion dinner.

I don't even know when was the last time we have some many of us gather together around the dinner table - to be exact, i don't think once *in my life* - as i think this is the ONLY time in my entire life to have dinner w/ Auntie Nancy, Auntie Amy & Auntie Connie, Uncle Michael and Uncle Hung altogether.

missing family members - Auntie Angela (and her fmaily), oh, and of course, my dad, which i don't think they'll make it anyway - at least not the one w/ me & my mom in...

Anyway, looking for Part 2 of the family reunion - dinner for ALL COUSINS this coming Sat - w/ niece too (wait, 2nd cousin i should say!) haha

In some sense I guess one won't treasure family reunion as much if family reunion is too "easy"...

Scorpio or not!?

The below was actually written last Oct (2005)... just sat in the draft box for 2 quarters XD hahaha...

so for whoever is reading out there, please add onto the list and justify that I'm a "typical Scorpio"! XD

===

Lately I begin to wonder if I'm REALLY a Scorpio.... hmm... like I think I've a pretty good "feel" of Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Pisces and MAYBE and MAYBE Capricorn

But what exactly is a TYPICAL Scorpio like?!

Some times I think I'm as spontaneous/extreme as a Gemini, but then when it comes to decision making can be as troublesome as Sagittarius... (hahahahaha) sometimes I think I act like a Virgo to think deep w/in myself but when it comes to "action" I act like speed of thought Pisces' thought (but I, of course, can't speak / respond to as Pisces as fast... and act w/o "head" is definitely a BAD thing)...

jealously, definitely a "typical Scorpio".... is "hard neck" one of Scropio's characteristics (oh, let's put it on a more positive way - INSISTENCE) hahahhaa... what else what else?

maybe after all I'm just a rotten Scorpio - or a person with all horoscopes' rotten characteristics XD

hahahahahaahahahahahahahaha

FW: 7 Characteristics of women leaders...

Was reading CW's blog and found one of the news clips talking about 女性領袖七大特質:

必 備 的 特 質 (1-3) & 領 袖 特 質 (4-7):

  1. 有 遠 見
  2. 顧 全 大 局
  3. 聰 明 智 慧
  4. 做 事 靈 活 變 通
  5. 願 意 承 擔
  6. 胸 襟 廣 闊
  7. 知 人 善 任
well I'm not quite sure about if I'm #1; and #2 I really seldom consider (fight fight fight, complains complains complains!!!!) hahaha..... I don't think I'm #3, nor #4... #5 okay gae (except that i'm blogger now as i worked until midnite last nite)... but then I'm a typical Scorpio so can't do #6, and also the jealousy part of a typical Scorpio couldn't really practice #7

wakakakakakkakaka~~~
probably that explain why I'm not a successful leader :PPP kekekekee... *and better not let my boss read the above (even though he might know it deep down!) hahahahahaha*

alright alright, let me print it out and post it on my cubicle as a reminder XD

Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus (something like that)

so lately my mailbox was STUFFED with responds from cousins all over the world (well, just put it this way - HKese in my generation has their relatives pretty much every where in the world as most of them immigrated to other places berfore th 97)... Nevertheless, many of my cousins are planning to come back visit in the next 2 wks so we'll have a family gathering (for the cousins).

although i haven't met most of them for 5-10 yrs (geez, really getting old)... when it comes to "blow water" we still can blow like good old days (haha)... just then when it comes to 'marriage' i just couldn't quite "fit" in and couldn't really "blow along" - OH WELL, guess it's still funny to get this out from one of the cousins who married (not too long ago!?) - and also from my younger sis who just married for a bit more than a yr :P

For the GUYS out there... i think you'll be happy to read this which has fwded from one of my cousins Derek XD

*and this guy actually copied his wife my cousin-in-law while sending it out! darn, missed a chance for blackmail!*
hahahahahahahaha

At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down Finally , the guys' side of the story.
We always hear " the rules" From the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side.
These are our rules!
  • 1. Men ARE not mind readers.
  • 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
  • 1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.
  • 1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.
  • 1. Crying is blackmail.
  • 1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!
  • 1. Yes and No are perfectly Acceptable answers to almost every question.
  • 1. Come to us with a problem only If you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.
  • 1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.
  • 1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 Days.
  • 1. If you won't dress like the Victoria 's Secret girls, don't Expect us to act like soap opera guys.
  • 1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one ..
  • 1. You can either ask us to do something Or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.
  • 1. Whenever possible, Please say whatever you have to say during commercials.
  • 1. Christopher Columbus did NOT need directions and neither do we.
  • 1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not! A color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.
  • 1. If it itches, it will Be scratched. We do that.
  • 1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," We will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.
  • 1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, Expect an answer you don't want to hear. 1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear Is fine... Really .
  • 1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball, the shotgun formation, or golf.
  • 1. You have enough clothes.
  • 1. You have too many shoes.
  • 1. I am in shape. Round IS a shape!
  • 1. Thank you for reading this. Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; But did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.
Please note.. these are all numbered "1" ON PURPOSE!

I can't wait to see my cousins after all these yrs - sometimes i kinda "regret" that i missed the chance growing up with them....
